FIERY VOLCANO
You are a boy........a 15 year old one..................you live in Ekta Heights, Kolkata........you find the authoritarian adults very imposining and are always at your nerves when you start playing!!!
Indeed it's a nuisance.........a "sinister and devious ploy" by the "Association Office"-monsters.......
WHAT THE HELL DO YOU DO-O-O-O-O????
This is what I came up with......
a letter..........a spicy and ruthless one I openly presented before every resident in Ekta Heights(in my dreams!!!)...
Here it goes...
To all the residents of Ekta Heights,
This letter is written out of immense distress and annoyance and seeks to take the form of an outburst of ire. We hope that we are able to bring some impact on the minds and hearts of all the residents of Ekta Heights, specially the elders.
We, the children of Ekta Heights seek complete freedomfrom being targeted by a section of Ekta Heights Association to hurl all their fury at us. On 12th of pril, 2009, a couple of my friends and I, after having an exhausting game of soccer, entered the Ekta Heights gym to cool ourselves('coz it's the nearest room with an AC). We were just sitting quietly with two other men exercising when suddenly this security comes in and yells at us to evacuate the gym. We tried a lot to convince him that we are no vandals who smash things to pieces, nor are we handling any any eqipment. But who cares? He kept his ears closed and hurled word after word. We even showed him the notice stuck on the wall outside the gymnasium which clearly mentions that children under 13 are not allowed, and that we are way above 13. But lo! He's like "I've got orders from the association to keep you'll out. You have to sign in the log book." So we were ready to sign but again he starts,"You can't sign.First get permission from office". Now who can tolerate such nonsense? Of course I can sign(I've got a hand you megalomaniac!). We don't pay a penny less than those people who are gumming out there, so why can't we go in? While the argument was going on, one of the gymmers erupts "Shut up! Everyone get out! Get out immediately! I am getting disturbed!" believe me, these were the very words he yelled out. As if he's the boss out here and we are some outsiders and the gymnasium belongs only to him! That disgusting security personnel noted down down our flat numbers and left us in hurry.
Left to ourselves, we decided to move to the adjacent games' room. After sometime my friends, some other kids and I resorted to a game of chess. Suddenly two hefty men along with that security, anger and utter disgust written all across their faces storm into the room as if there is an alarm. One of them shouts, "I just saw someone standing on the Table-Tennis table", when the other erupts,"No, no, no! I saw someone dancing on the billiards table" Okay, we acknowledge your god-gifted power of being able to see through walls(that's why you could see one of us dancing on the billiards table from outside the room!) but why don't you name that someone? The first one resumes at full volume, his vocal cords totally stretched,"How dare you? how dare you destroy the table? What behaviour is this? Haven't yopu learnt anything? Everyone...........everyone give me their flat numbers, everyone must be punished; call thei parents up; this hooliganism has to stop!"
We are neither vandals nor terrorists whom you have caught red-handed. We have equal rights as you do. If you can't control your violent and beastly instincts, then we would advise you to join a local political party. It would provide you with a broader platform to showcase your God-gifted talents. The games' room is not the appropriate place and we are not your punching bags. If all else fails, grab a pillow and vent all your anger on it. This is no way to maintain the games' room. If you've been chosen to maintain it, show that you are worthy of your position. A true leader knows hoew to keep cool even in unfavourable conditions. Or if it is something else, i.e., you have some personal grudge against children, then beat your own kids up like hell till they are dead(we won't even bother you). Those of you don't have one for they think children are a burden................too bad, you have to resort to the pillow!
We urge all the parents, grandparents to do something about it. Save us from this hellish autocracy. Condemn the select men who have nothing else to do in life other than to target children. Next time onwards please stand foer elections to the Associoation, to all the others; please vote for the people you think right and don't be capricious. Remember, we all have to live together.
In anticipation of an immediate and favourable response, we remain
yours faithfully,
The children of Ekta Heights.
